Barbe à papa

Dear followers,

Holidaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays! Yay, I'm so happy. One week, totally free of school. So my friends and I decided to give it a great kick of by going to a huge fair. The fair was awesome, lots of nice attractions and it smelled so sweet. And 'cause we couldn't resesit the little stall with huge colourful candy floss, we ended up having sticky fingers (:

Ohh, and yeah, my hair was all wet and wouldn't go in it's place anymore, ike you see in the picture above. Thanks to the some fairground attraction were small fountains made us totally wet.

And as you can see, even the sun broke trough. So our holidays couldn't start better at all. And after having a lot of fun, we went to an adorable pizzaria in the centre, Black Beauty. We ate there a couple of times, and it never get boring. There's only one man running the tiny restaurant and he bakes delicious pizzas. It was hard to decide which pizza to get, but I decided to have one with salmon. Great choice.

Today the weather is so horrible, only rain... Maybe I could bake cake or something. Anybody a great idea and recipe?

Have an awesome weekend!

Janna

Ps. I also came across a picture of my team getting the cup can medals, last Thursday. We all  made three stars on our tenue because now we're the champions three times in a row (:

Carrot cake

Hey you!

A few days ago I had one of these on which I couldn't really find the motivation to start working. So instead, I just baked a delicious carrot cake with a thin walnutcrumble-layer. Really I didn't know carrots in cake could be such a succes!

What you maybe aren't able to see is the crumble layer. That's really what makes this cake extra-delicious! There is a lot of cinnamon and walnuts in it. And that smells so great. I also added almond extract to the cake and that smells even better. Just never try to taste it  on its own haha, 'cause it's way too concentrated...

For the lovers, here is the recipe:

What you need:
Cake:
  • 120 gr butter
  • 250 gr soft brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly stirred
  • 3/4 tablespoon of almond extract
  • 150 gr flour
  • 1/2 talbespoon baking powder
  • 75 gr raisins (yellow or brown ones)
  • 40 gr walnuts
  • 75 gr grated carrots (very very tiny pieces)
  • optional: 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda (I didn't add it, but the cookbook says I should, oowh, bad me haha)

Cruble layer:
  • 30 gr walnuts
  • 40 gr brown sugar
  • 25 gr flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 12 gr butter, melted
What you do:
  1. Preheat the over at 180°C.
  2. Stir the butter with the sugar in a bowl so it's airy and then stir the eggs and almong extract trough it.
  3. Filter the flour, baking soda and baking powder above the bowl.
  4. Spoon the raisins, grated carrots and walnuts trough the batter.
  5. Then pour the batter in a spring cake tin.
  6. After that it's time to make the cruble layer. So mix all the ingredients and spread it over the batter in the tin.
  7. Bake the cake 45-55 minutes. I did it aroung 45 minutes, because I was afraid the cake would be dry. So now it still was a bit sticky, so lovely!
  8. After 45 minutes, let te cake cool down and... EAT IT <3
If you'll tried the recipe, please tell me what you think of it. Also if you've ever eaten carrot cake before. I didn't know it was so delicious. Really, I might bake this for a party. And now my friends are kinda curious, because I told about the cake at school. Hihi :3

Anyway, today was very boring. I had eight hours, which included two test... Pff, I'm happy I'm home now.

We had a lot of fun during geography class (:

However, we've only one short day left and then... there is a full week holidays! Which I'm really looking forward to! And tomorrow I've only got school until like 12 a.m. So it isn't even that bad anymore.

How are you going?

Poker & Pancakes

Hi everyone,

How are you doing? Did you also had a good weekend?
For me, the weekend was great. Of course I first became champions with my volleybal-team. Click here for the picture and post about that Saturday. After spending some time with my teammates in the Mac, I went home, learnt a bit for my historytest and changed my clothes. Then I went to Haarlem with Laura to eat something in the centre. We had a lovely time sitting in the sun besides the channels.

Yeahh, that's me sitting in the sun (:
We drank some kind of soft drink, tasting like bubble gum, so delicious!
After forgetting the time, we were a little bit late for meeting the boys, but I don't think they  did really mind hahaha. We played poker and I won (: Hahhaa, I didn't really understand the game, so it was funny xd.

So that was my Saturday. And yesterday I had a tournament, which we totally lost xd. But we had a great time together and it wasn't that bad. In the evening I made a lovely dessert with pancakes and warm cherries. See here the result:

Ooohh, it even looks delicious <3

It's so simple, you only have to bake some pancakes and heat the cherries (from a tin or something). Serve it out with icecream and powdered sugar. Doesn't it sound (and look!) delicous? It's so easy, and so yummy!

And now I really should learn a bit more for my historytest...

Lots of love, Janna

We are the champiooooons

Heee (:
I play volleybal in a great team. Last year we became champions twice. Every time we had to play against better teams. Today was a the last match of this season. And there were two teams playing, VCH and Spaarnestad. When Spaarnestad made more then 44 points against VCH, we would be the champions of this season. So we were totally nervous, sitting on the grandstand. And we wanted to be champions so badly, 'cause that would mean three times in a row.

Padadadadadaaaaamm....

We're the champions! Ohyeaaahhh, I'm so happy. So we went to Mac Donalds with the team to party hahaa. It was fabulous. And now I can only smile smile smile. Thursday is our last training, such a pity! But then we get the cup and our medals (:

Sorry for the bad picture, but it's made with a mobilephone xd.

Tomorrow we have a tournament, far from here. And I'm looking forward to it. But I have to get up very early, like 7 a.m. Woohoo xd.
Anyway, now I'm going to meet some friends!

What are you gonna do this evening, tonight?

Quiche Queen

Dear you,

First I would like to thank all my readers for leaving such lovely comments. It always makes me happy to see you like my blog. So... thanks a lot, keep leaving notes! (:
The second thing I wanted to show you is the quiche I ate for dinner today. It was really delicious. It was a quiche with pieces pear, blue-veined cheese and walnuts... And believe it or not, but that's an amazing combi!

Okay, it doesn't look that delicious in this picture, but it really was hahaha.

Well, it's weekend and I'm happy about it. It's kinda busy 'cause I have a lot to do for school and some volleyball matches. And I'm also gonna meet some friends. But it's of course better than doing nothing at all. What are you gonna do?

Have fun xx

Recipe & Outfit

Hey you!
How are you?

Really the weather in Holland is so awful. It's raining raining raining... But I also so a little bit of sunshine, so maybe there will be a rainbow :3
Anyway, some of you asked the recipe for the gingerbrownies I made a few days ago. So I'll give you it. Together with a few action-photos, hahaha. But don't tell everybody the recipe, it must keep a bit secret (:
But at first I would like to show a few pictures of my outfit today...

It's kinda casual, but as I said the weather isn't that great. And I really like my knee high socks <3

My golden cuff and flowery ring! (:

So, the recipe...

You need:

  • 125 gr butter
  • 200 gr dark chocolate
  • 200 gr christal-sugar
  • 4 eggs, slightly whipped
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla-extract (or vanilla-sugar)
  • 50 gr ginger preserved by sugar, in syrup, in small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon of syrup extra
What you should do to make these delicious brownies:
  1. Preheat the over in 180 °C,
  2. Melt the chocolate together with the butter, keep stirring it so it doesn't burn,
  3. Take the saucepan from the gas and stir the sugar through the mix,
  4. Whip the eggs, vanilla-extract and ginger-syrup trough the melted chocolate,
  5. Spoon the pieces of ginger and the flower through the total mix
  6. Put the batter in the greased pastry mould,
  7. Bake the brownies for  30 to 35 minutes
Tip: If you want to have your brownies very sticky, you could bake them as short as possible. But never too short, or they will collapse...

step 2

don't forget to taste a little bit (:

step 3

step 4

step 5

and ofcourse the result, yummy!

Gingerbrownies

Dear you,

Waaaaa, they smelled so great, but I had to wait until they were finished. It was almost unebearable... I had been cleaning my room since straight away after breakfast. And even then I had to do a lot of homework. But by the time of three o'clock PM I was so bored, I wanted to do something fun. And I decided to take a look in one of the cookbooks I have in my bookcase. While flipping through the pages, I saw a recipe for brownies with ginger. And I was kinda sure we had ginger preserved by sugar in syrup... Which smells so delicious!

Yummieeee! (:

Oohh, I love brownies. They are so supersticky. And the taste of ginger just makes it even more perfect.

How did you spend your sunday?
Bisous, Janna

Ginger; it doesnt only smell and taste good,

Saturday Sushi

Dear readers,

Yesterday my father first decided that I should have a new bike. That isn't that weird, becuase my all one seems like falling apart every time you go over a little bump in the streets. So I went to a bike-shop (is that a word? x). Normally I don't really like those shops. But this was a shop with a testroad. So I spent my time cycling around in the shop hahaha. And I even found a great bike, so maybe I'll have that one!
When I came home my mother asked if I wanted to eat out... That wasn't such a hard question. Of course I wanted to eat out! We cycled (yeahh, on my old bike :) to a nearby Chinese-Indonesian restaurant.

The food was delicious. There was really nice sushi with salmon and there were banana-balls. That's something I really like, banana-balls. Now I'm looking for a recipe, so I can make them myself.
Anyway, I made some pictures! Doesn't it look so delicious?!

Sushi! <3

Stir fried gambas with corn, fungus and courgette, yummy!

How did you spend your saturday?

Yesertday was awesome! A few weeks ago Laura and I said it would be really cool to have a high tea. So we invited a lot of friends. Ryanne said we could come to her house, which is really kind because we were with a lot of girls (: And the party could be started!

Int he morning I made brownies, the same sticky brownies from a week ago. But now I decorated it a bit Easter-like. And yeahh, I used the bunnies from the chocolatesprinkles (:

Egg with a moustache

Dear readers,

First thing in the morning: looking for easter-eggs all over the house with my brother (:
After finding all 51 chocolate-eggs, we had a lovely breakfast!

In a few minutes we're going to cycle to Amsterdam. Near the centre is a museum called FOAM, Photograhy Museum Amsterdam. And I'm really looking forward to it. I wanna go there since I knew it existed. 'Cause I love photography. And at the moment there's a exhebition of the best pictures of the New York Times. So, I'm going to get ready.

Have a happy easter!

xx Janna

PS. What are you gonna do today?

Saturday Sweetness

Hey!

This was one of these days you intend to do some work, but end eating icecream with friends (: You know, I did want to have some fun today, but it seemed like everyone had to visit their grandparents, play a footballmatch or do something else. So I started learning for my maths-test. But that didn't really make me happy. Actually, it made me kinda frustrated. (You know, algebraic expressions and that kind of stuff >.<)
Soon I ended up cleaning my room, yeaaahh... bo-ring! And I was so happy when I got a textmessage. And from one thing came another. And 30 minutes later I was cycling with my friend Rachel to meet Laura.

It was really fun. And the icecream was delicious. Despite it was very cold outside. Even so cold, that when Rachel and I were cycling back home it rained tiny hailstones...

Oh, do you remember the nailpolish I got yesterday? I polished my nails with it today. I'm totally in love with the colour. So were my friends!

Mintcoloured nailpolish: Rimmel, 835 Bright Back At You

Do you like it as much I do?

A few minutes ago I read an article about a park in Sydney. All the people there live in rockabilly style. Really, the women wear beautiful dresses, sometimes with petticoats. And some of the men have these amazing hairstyle! I wish I could visit this park once.
The photographer Steven Siewart made an report about it. He said about it: "Photographing this secene is like time travalling. Every now and then I put my camera down to drink in the armosphere of postwar Sydney"

And how was your saturday?

xx Janna

Cheesecake

Bonjour!
Yesterday I said I was going to try out a new recipe I found in a cookmagazine. So that's exactly what I did. It was a recipe for a delicous cheesecake. And I'll give yout he recipe, so you can also make it.

You need:

  1. 200 gr crumbled Bastogne-cookies
  2. 1,5 lemon
  3. 5 tablespoons of sugar
  4. Cream (to make whipped cream)
  5. 6 Gelatin-sheets
  6. 350 ml Quark or Greek yughurt
What to do:
  1. The first thing you should do it make a base. The base of this cheesecake is made of Bastogne. I don't know if you can buy these cookies in every country. But it's a crunchy cookie with caramalized sugar and cinnamon flavour. Annyway, you should crumble them. I first tried doing this with my hands. After a couple of minutes I discovered this didn't work. So I used a hammer (:
  2. After making the base it's time to put the gelatin-sheets into water.
  3. Heat the lemonjuice together with one tablespoon sugar.
  4. Squeeze the gelatin-sheets out in the warm mix of lemonjuice and sugar.
  5. Stir the quark or Greek yoghurt and mix it with the lemonjuice.
  6. Whip the cream until it's whipped cream (okay, this sounds a bit stupid :). Mix it toghether with 4 tablespoons of sugar.
  7. Stir the whipped cream trough the yoghurt.
  8. Now you can spread the yoghurt-mix over the Bastogne-base.
  9. You should let the cheesecake coagulate until it's a thick mass.
  10. After it has coagulated, you can decorate the cake. I did it with a lemon, because there's lemonjuice in the cake. Soo... But you could also do it with little white chocolate-eggs. Or whipped cream. Or anything else.
Have fun! xx
